Nerd Nite Wedding
I met my wife Amanda at the University of Alberta in 2011. She was starting her master’s degree on squirrel personality, and I was starting my PhD. In the summer of 2016, we tied the knot in an untraditional ceremonial seminar series featuring Dr. Philip J. Currie and Dr. Robert T. Bakker. The event was hosted by Nerd Nite Edmonton.
Nerd Nite is an ongoing speaker series on all things nerdy. Amanda and I had both presented in the past, making us "alumnerds." Nerd Nite has opened opportunities for science outreach that cater uniquely to the adult community, and more than anything, promotes the philosophy that it's okay to be nerdy. Excitement about how the world works isn't just for kids!
